Finally, it's here: the first ever Melbourne Umbraco Meetup.
Peter Gregory (@pgregorynz) and I started talking about setting up regular meetings for Australian Umbraco users a couple of months ago before Codegarden 14. At the time we started talking about having meetings in Melbourne and Sydney every couple of months, and even started talking about an Australian Umbraco Festival a little down the track.
Then we heard from community Bob Baty-Bar and Pete Duncanson in their session on what essentially turned out to be about building the Umbraco community. After that Peter and I pretty much decided that we both needed to hold regular Meetups in our respective areas consistently and constantly.
Prior to that, we'd planned to have the first Melbourne Meetup in August, when Peter is down delivering the Umbraco Master Classes. As it turns out, that meeting will now be our second, and I'm looking forward to it more than ever.
So here it is: The first ever Melbourne Umbraco Meetup; date locked in for the first Wednesday of July, and hosted by the good folks at Roadhouse Digital. Being the first meeting, anything goes essentially; I'll be presenting on something related to Codegarden 14, or possibly about writing Umbraco 7 packages with AngularJS, but the night will be more about making connections, getting to know each other's interests and expectations.
